Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV 1/2) Rapid Self-Test in Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma
The HIV 1/2 Rapid Self-Test Kit (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is designed to detect HIV-1/HIV-2 antibodies by visually interpreting the color change of the internal test strip. The membrane has recombinant HIV antigen immobilized in the test area. During the test, the sample is allowed to react with a colored HIV antigen colloidal gold conjugate pre-coated on the test sample pad. The mixture then moves across the membrane by capillary action and interacts with reagents on the membrane. If sufficient HIV-1/HIV-2 antibodies are present in the specimen, colored bands will appear on the test area of the membrane. The presence of this colored band indicates a positive result and its absence indicates a negative result. A colored band appears in the control area as a progress control. This indicates that an appropriate volume of sample has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.
